Curse of the International Break

International breaks; like taxes and the poor, we don’t like them but they are always with us; always hanging around the street corner waiting to disrupt our domestic contentment.

Just when things are settling into a nice groove; just when the season’s drama is beginning to unfold, Arsenal picking form, United and Citeh dropping points, Liverpool still as shit as ever... along comes the bloody International Break to spoil it all, putting it all on pause for two weeks while we sit around and stare at our blank TVs and at our empty grounds with an unbearable sadness, having to watch matches in places like belarus, montenegro and dare i say, san marino (No disrespect to them)
Dont get it wrong, i have nothing against international football.. PAUSE...

There was a time when internationals were played on Wednesdays and there was no break from the league schedule to accommodate them. The English FA was keen to change this because "exhaustion and injury" was said to be a cause of "England’s failure to perform"

These days England have breaks before the games still conspire among themselves to not win anything and, just as previously occasionally fail to qualify for the odd tournament. The break hasn’t helped at all and players seem to be absent through injury in ever greater numbers regardless.

Yes the injuries... i'm sure a certain frenchman in North London will agree with me that these international breaks may certainly either make or break a clubs season. For the last 2 seasons in a row Robin van Persie has been ravaged by injuries gotten on international duty for the Netherlands

I think all Arsenal fans can say that yes thats an injury that definitely breaks their season..

The international break can however welcomed by some... Clubs use this break to to nurse injured players back to health take for example Nemanja Vidic at Man United last season. two weeks out but thanks to the international break, didnt miss a game due to injury...

This season Wenger i'm sure welcomed the break with open arms... Boy did he need it Lol

But after all is said and done, i will always be an ardent supporter against the international break. It disrupts the momentum of teams and deprives us THE FANS some quality football which we only get to see after a whole TWO WEEKS!!!
